    Try to make zoom as interactive as possible. If you are the host, give regular options of raising hand, sending a chat message or simply using the reaction buttons. If you are a participant, take the chances above to actively participate.

    Sending out my zoom invites with the following instruction: Before we start our session, please make sure you’ve taken time for yourself by going for a walk, getting some sun, drinking some water, eating a nutritious snack, or standing up and taking some deep breaths. Your body and mind will thank you and you’ll be better prepared for the scheduled zoom session.

    When using MS TEAMS with my students I start the session five minutes early to allow time for speaking with each individual student as they join the call. I then encourage interaction via the chat function so that I know all of the students are still on the call and are thinking about the topic. Part way through the session we play a game of some sort. The students favourite is a scavenger hunt where they need to get up and find an item and take a photo of it and put it into the chat eg something red. This encourages movement and allows for some creativity with the responses. It is also a brain break from the material being covered. There is a time limit to find the object otherwise it could take the rest of the lesson.
